Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 443

Sayyiduna al-Bara' bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "Not every one of us heard hadith (directly) from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); we had our own lands and occupations. But in those days people did not lie, so the one who was present (in the gathering) would narrate hadith to the one who was absent."
This hadith is sahih on the condition of the two Shaykhs, but they did not record it. Muhammad bin Salim and his son Abdullah have been used as evidence, and Imam Bukhari included the Sahifah of Ibrahim bin Yusuf in his "Sahih".

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: The name appears this way in our manuscripts, whereas in "Ithaf al-Maharah" (2153) the full name is given as "'Abd Allah bin Muhammad bin Salim al-Mafluj".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This 'Abd Allah (who is sometimes also attributed to his grandfather Salim) is a thiqah narrator, and he is known through the narration of Bishr bin Musa from him. As for his father (Muhammad), we have not found any narration of his.

Technical note / Defect ('illah): This part of the text, "from his father, from Abu Ishaq", is missing from manuscripts (S), ('A) and the printed edition.

Grading: This chain is "hasan" because of Ibrahim bin Yusuf (bin Ishaq bin Abi Ishaq al-Sabi'i).
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A narration with similar meaning has already appeared at number (330) through the route of Sufyan al-Thawri from Abu Ishaq.
