أخبرني محمد بن إبراهيم الهاشِمي، حدَّثنا الحسين بن محمد بن زياد، حدَّثنا الحسين بن حُرَيث، حدَّثنا الفضل بن موسى، عن خُثَيم بن عِراك، عن أبيه، عن أبي هريرة، قال: لما خرجَ رسولُ الله ﷺ إلى خَيبرَ استعملَ سِباعَ بن عُرْفُطَةَ الغِفاريّ بالمدينة (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set out for (the expedition of) Khaybar, he (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed Sayyiduna Siba' bin Urfutah al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) as his deputy (governor) in Madinah.
This hadith has an authentic (sahih) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

وقد تقدَّم بأطول ممّا ها هنا برقم (2272) من طريق إبراهيم محمد بن يزيد المَروَزي عن الحسين بن حريث.
Reference / Source: This narration has already appeared in a longer form than here at no. (2272) by way of Ibrahim Muhammad bin Yazid al-Marwazi, from al-Husayn bin Hurayth.
Grading: (1) Its chain is sahih.
