Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 4345

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "On the day of the Battle of Badr, every three of us would ride one camel by turns. Sayyiduna Ali and Sayyiduna Abu Lubabah (may Allah be pleased with them both) were the riding companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The narrator says: When it was his (peace and blessings be upon him) turn to walk, they both would say: You remain riding and we will walk. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) would say: 'You two are not stronger than me, nor am I less in need of the reward than you two.'"
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
