It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Doing acts of kindness and goodness to people protects a person from an evil end, calamities and destruction; and those who do good in this world are the people of good (the successful) in the Hereafter."
Imam Abu Ali al-Hafiz says: I wrote this hadith only from al-Saffar; its narrators Muhammad bin Ishaq and his son are among the people of Basrah, and no criticism of them is known. Also, the part "the people of good in this world" is narrated through the report of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) as well, which is mentioned among the supporting narrations.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is "da'if" because some of its narrators are unknown (jahalah). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Imam al-Bayhaqi declared it weak in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (7704) after narrating it from al-Hakim and others, and said that the responsibility for its weakness lies with al-'Askari and al-'Ammi. Important point: Imam al-Dhahabi said in "al-Talkhis": "Because of this narration and the ones before it, the rank of this compilation (al-Mustadrak of al-Hakim), which has been named 'Sahih', has fallen".
7/ 262 - 263. Technical note / Defect ('illah): We have not found this narration through this route (chain). Al-Munkadir bin Muhammad (bin al-Munkadir) is "layyin al-hadith" (soft, i.e. weak, in hadith). Details of the narration: This saying has also been narrated as marfu' from several other Companions, but none of those routes is free of criticism. For details, see al-Haythami's "Majma' al-Zawa'id" (7/ 262-263).
