It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah, the people rushed towards him (peace and blessings be upon him) and it was said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had arrived. I too came with the people to see. When I looked carefully at his (peace and blessings be upon him) face, I recognized that this face could not be the face of a liar. The first thing I heard from him (peace and blessings be upon him) was that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people! Spread the greeting of salam, feed others, maintain the ties of kinship, and pray at night while people are asleep; you will enter Paradise in peace."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(931). Grading: (2) This hadith is sahih, and this chain is strong (qawi) because of "Hawdhah bin Khalifah", and he has been corroborated. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Zurarah bin Awfa heard from Abd Allah bin Salam, as is established from his biography in al-Bukhari's "al-Tarikh al-Kabir" (3/438-439), and Muslim affirmed it decisively in "al-Kuna" (931). Reference / Source: Ahmad (39/23784), Ibn Majah (1334) and al-Tirmidhi (2485) narrated it through the route of Muhammad bin Ja'far; Ibn Majah (1334) and al-Tirmidhi (2485) through the route of Muhammad bin Ibrahim bin Abi Adi and Abd al-Wahhab bin Abd al-Majid al-Thaqafi; and Ibn Majah (3251) through the route of Abu Usamah Hammad bin Usamah. All four of them narrate it from Awf bin Abi Jamilah with this same chain. Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the narration of Abu Usamah, Zurarah explicitly stated that he heard it from Abd Allah bin Salam. Details of the narration: This narration will come later (no. 7464) through the route of Yahya bin Sa'id al-Qattan and Abd al-Wahhab bin Ata' from Awf.
