حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا يوسف بن عبد الله الخُوارزمي ببيت المَقدِس، حدثنا أبو سعيد يحيى بن سليمان الجُعفي، حدثنا يحيى بن يَمَان، حدثنا سفيان، عن علقمة بن مَرْثَد، عن سليمان بن بُريدة، عن أبيه: أنَّ النبي ﷺ زار قَبْرَ أُمِّه في ألف مُقنَّعٍ، فما رُئِيَ أكثرُ باكِيًا من ذلك اليوم (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه، إنما أخرج مسلم وحدَه حديث مُحارِب بن دِثار، عن ابن بُريدة، عن أبيه: "استأذنتُ ربِّي في الاستغفارِ لأُمِّي فلم يأْذَنْ لي" (2).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) visited the grave of his mother along with a thousand masked (riders), and no one was ever seen weeping more than on that day.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it. However, Muslim alone recorded this narration of Muharib bin Dithar from Ibn Buraydah: "I asked my Lord for permission to seek forgiveness for my mother, but He did not grant me permission."

(1) إسناده ضعيف بهذا اللفظ كما تقدَّم بيانه برقم (1405) فقد روي هناك من طريق أخرى عن يحيى بن يمان، وذكر هناك لفظه الصحيح عن بُريدة.
Grading: With this wording this chain is weak, as has already been explained under hadith number (1405).
Note / Clarification: There it was narrated via another route from Yahya bin Yaman, and its correct wording from Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) was mentioned there.
(2) كذا المصنف هنا بأنَّ مسلمًا أخرجه من هذه الطريق، مع أنه جزم جزم عند الحديث المتقدم أنّ مسلمًا لم يخرجه من الطريق المذكورة، وهو الصحيح، وإنما أخرج مسلم في استئذانه ﷺ في الاستغفار لأمِّه حديثَ أبي هريرة برقم (976).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The author (al-Hakim) mentions here that Muslim recorded it via this route, although under the previous hadith he stated with certainty that Muslim did not record it via this route, and that is the correct position.
