Grading: Its chain is weak.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Muhammad bin Ishaq (Ibn Yasar) is a mudallis, and here he narrated with 'an'anah and did not state that he heard it directly.
وأخرجه البيهقي في "السنن الكبرى" 5/ 177 عن أبي عبد الله الحاكمن بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by al-Bayhaqi in "al-Sunan al-Kubra" 5/177 from Abu 'Abdullah al-Hakim, with this chain.
وأخرجه الأزرقي في "أخبار مكة" 1/ 72 - 73 من طريق عثمان بن ساج، عن محمد بن إسحاق، قال: حدثني من لا أتَّهِم، عن ابن عبّاس.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by al-Azraqi in "Akhbar Makkah" 1/72-73 via 'Uthman bin Saj, from Muhammad bin Ishaq, who said: "Someone whom I do not suspect narrated to me" (i.e. an unnamed person), from Ibn 'Abbas.
وأخرج الشطر الثاني وحده: الفاكهي في "أخبار مكة" (2593)، والطبراني في "الأوسط" (5407)، وفي "الكبير" (12283)، وأبو طاهر المخلِّص في "المخلِّصيات" (1286)، وابن عساكر في "تاريخ دمشق" 61/ 167، والضياء المقدسي في "الأحاديث المختارة" 10/ (309) من طريق محمد بن فضيل، عن عطاء بن السائب، عن سعيد بن جُبَير، عن ابن عبّاس مرفوعًا. لكن محمد بن فضيل ممن سمع من عطاء بن السائب بعد تغيُّره.
Details of the narration: Its second part alone was recorded by al-Fakihi in "Akhbar Makkah" (2593), al-Tabarani in "al-Awsat" (5407) and "al-Kabir" (12283), Abu Tahir al-Mukhallis in "al-Mukhallisiyyat" (1286), Ibn 'Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" 61/167 and al-Diya' al-Maqdisi in "al-Ahadith al-Mukhtarah" 10/(309), via Muhammad bin Fudayl, from 'Ata' bin al-Sa'ib, from Sa'id bin Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, as marfu'.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): However, Muhammad bin Fudayl is among those who heard from 'Ata' bin al-Sa'ib after his memory deteriorated.
وأخرجه الأزرقي في "أخبار مكة" 1/ 69 و 2/ 174، والفاكهي في "أخبار مكة" (2603)، وابن الجوزي في "مثير العزم الساكن إلى أشرف الأماكن" (189) من طريق أشعث بن سوّار، عن عكرمة عن ابن عبّاس موقوفًا. وأشعث ضعيف.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by al-Azraqi in "Akhbar Makkah" 1/69 and 2/174, al-Fakihi in "Akhbar Makkah" (2603) and Ibn al-Jawzi in "Muthir al-'Azm al-Sakin ila Ashraf al-Amakin" (189) via Ash'ath bin Sawwar, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, as mawquf.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ash'ath bin Sawwar is a weak narrator.
وفي الباب عن أبي موسى الأشعري عند يونس بن بكير في زياداته على "مغازي ابن إسحاق" (83)، وأبي يعلى (7231) و (7271)، والعُقيلي في "الضعفاء" (32)، وأبي نعيم في "الحلية" 1/ 259، وابن عساكر في "تاريخ دمشق" 32/ 230 و 61/ 166 وغيرهم بسند ضعيف جدًّا.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic there is also a narration from Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, in Yunus bin Bukayr's additions to "Maghazi Ibn Ishaq" (83), Abu Ya'la (7231) and (7271), al-'Uqayli in "al-Du'afa'" (32), Abu Nu'aym in "al-Hilyah" 1/259, Ibn 'Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" 32/230 and 61/166, and others, with a very weak chain.
وعن أنس بن مالك عند أبي يعلى (4275) بإسناد ضعيف جدًّا كذلك.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: And from Anas bin Malik in Abu Ya'la (4275), likewise with a very weak chain.
وعن كثير بن عبد الله بن عمرو بن عوف المزني، عن أبيه، عن جده بنحوه عند عمر بن شبة في "تاريخ المدينة" 1/ 80، وكثيرٌ هذا الجمهور على تضعيفه.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A similar narration via Kathir bin 'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin 'Awf al-Muzani, from his father, from his grandfather, was recorded by 'Umar bin Shabbah in "Tarikh al-Madinah" 1/80.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The majority of scholars declare this Kathir weak.
وعن أبي هريرة موقوفًا عليه عند مسدّد في "مسنده" كما في إتحاف الخير" للبوصيري (965). وعند البزار (1177 - كشف الأستار)، والفاكهي في "أخبار مكة" (2594)، وأبي يعلى في "الكبير" كما في "المطالب العالية" (1332)، والطبراني في "الكبير" (13525) من حديث عبد الله بن عُمر مرفوعًا: "في مسجد الخيف قبر سبعين نبيًا". ورجاله ثقات.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: From Abu Hurayrah, mawquf on him, it was recorded by Musaddad in his "Musnad" (as in al-Busiri's "Ithaf al-Khiyarah" (965)). Also al-Bazzar (1177 - Kashf al-Astar), al-Fakihi in "Akhbar Makkah" (2594), Abu Ya'la in "al-Kabir" (as in "al-Matalib al-'Aliyah" (1332)) and al-Tabarani in "al-Kabir" (13525) recorded from the hadith of 'Abdullah bin 'Umar, as marfu': "In Masjid al-Khayf are the graves of seventy prophets."
Grading: Its narrators are thiqah.
