حدثني أبو بكر محمد بن أحمد بن بالَوَيهِ، حدثنا أبو المُثنَّى العَنْبَرِي، حدثنا يحيى بن مَعِين، حدثنا مروان بن معاوية، عن مُجالِد، عن أبي الوَدّاك، عن أبي سعيد، قال: قال النبي ﷺ: "إني خاتَمُ ألفِ نَبيٍّ أو أكثرَ" (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, I am the seal (the one who ends the line) of a thousand or even more prophets."

(1) إسناده ضعيف لضعف مجالد - وهو ابن سعيد - وبه أعلَّه الذهبي في "تلخيصه". أبو الودّاك: هو جبر بن نوف البِكالي.
Grading: Its chain is weak because of the weakness of Mujalid (Ibn Sa'id), and it is on this ground that al-Dhahabi criticised it in "al-Talkhis".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (Identification of the narrator): Abu al-Waddak is Jabr bin Nawf al-Bikali.
وأخرجه أحمد في أول خبرٍ عن الدجال 18/ (11752) من طريق يحيى بن سعيد الأموي، عن مجالد، به. ورواه مجالد بن سعيد أيضًا عن عامر الشَّعْبي عن جابر بن عبد الله عند ابن سعد 1/ 136، وابن أبي شَيْبة 15/ 128 وغيرهما.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by Ahmad in the first report about the Dajjal, 18/(11752), via Yahya bin Sa'id al-Umawi, from Mujalid, with this chain.
Details of the narration: Mujalid bin Sa'id also narrated it from 'Amir al-Sha'bi, from Jabir bin 'Abdullah, as found in Ibn Sa'd 1/136, Ibn Abi Shaybah 15/128 and others.
