Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Technical note (disagreement): However, there is disagreement from 'Affan over the mention of "the mother of Yusuf". 'Affan's most reliable students do not mention the mother of Yusuf, and a group other than 'Affan also narrated it from Hammad without mentioning her.
Conclusion: The narration without the mention of Yusuf's mother is what is "mahfuz" (preserved).
Reference / Source: Al-Tabari narrated it in his "Tafsir" 12/ 207 and "Tarikh" 1/ 330 from Ahmad bin Thabit and 'Abdullah bin Muhammad (both of Rayy); and Ibn 'Adi in "al-Kamil" 5/ 385 (and by his way Ibn 'Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" 69/ 185) by way of Ibrahim bin Sa'id al-Jawhari. All three narrate it from 'Affan bin Muslim, with this chain.
Status of the narrators: (The narrator) Ahmad bin Thabit is not thiqah, 'Abdullah bin Muhammad al-Razi could not be identified, and the narrator from Ibrahim bin Sa'id in Ibn 'Adi is "majhul al-hal" (of unknown condition).
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad 21/ (14050) and Ibn Abi Shaybah 4/ 396 and 11/ 565 both narrated it from 'Affan bin Muslim, likewise, but without mentioning "the mother of Yusuf".
Reference / Source: Al-Wahidi in "al-Tafsir al-Wasit" 2/ 611 and al-Dhahabi in "Siyar A'lam al-Nubala'" 10/ 364 narrated it by way of Musa bin Isma'il, and al-Dhahabi also (10/ 364) by way of Abu 'Umar Hafs bin 'Umar al-Mihraqani, both from Hammad bin Salamah, likewise; it too is without mention of her.
Reference / Source: Within the hadith of the Isra' and Mi'raj, Imam Ahmad 19/ (12505) narrated it from Hasan bin Musa, and Muslim (162) from Shayban bin Farrukh, both from Hammad bin Salamah, likewise, with the wording: "And there I was with Yusuf (peace be upon him), and behold, he had been given half of beauty (shatr al-husn)."
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Hatim narrated it in his "Tafsir" 7/ 2136 by way of Sulayman bin al-Mughirah, from Thabit, from Anas, "mawquf" (as his own statement), also mentioning Yusuf alone.
Supporting reports: On this topic there is a report from 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud, "mawquf" (as his own statement): "Yusuf and his mother were given one third of beauty." Ibn Sa'd narrated it in "al-Tabaqat al-Kubra" 6/ 295, Ibn Abi Shaybah 4/ 396, Ishaq bin Rahawayh in his "Musnad" (as in al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar's "al-Matalib al-'Aliyah" (3451)), al-Tabari 12/ 27, and al-Tabarani in "al-Kabir" (8555 - 8557). Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar declared its chain "sahih". However, al-Tabarani's wording in all three places is: "two thirds of beauty".
