It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "The obligatory ('aza'im) verses of prostration in the Qur'an are: 'Alif Lam Mim. The revelation' [Surah al-Sajdah: 1-2], 'Ha Mim. The revelation', that is, the Sajdah [Surah Fussilat: 1-2], Surah al-Najm, and 'Read in the name of your Lord who created' [Surah al-Alaq: 1]."
(Imam al-Hakim says:) And I am amazed at the one who narrates hadith to me and does not prostrate in the Mufassal surahs.

Grading: Its chain is hasan on account of 'Asim (Ibn Bahdalah). Sufyan is al-Thawri, and Zirr is Ibn Hubaysh. Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi (2/315) recorded it from Abu Abdullah al-Hakim, with this chain. 7/ 233. Reference / Source: It was also recorded via Sufyan al-Thawri by Abd al-Razzaq (5863) and by al-Tahawi in "Mushkil al-Athar" (7/233). Reference / Source: Al-Shafi'i recorded it in "al-Umm" (8/415), Ibn al-Mundhir in "al-Awsat" (2805), al-Tahawi (7/233) and al-Bayhaqi (2/315) via Shu'bah; and Ibn Wahb in "Fada'il al-Qur'an" of his "Jami'" (printed under the title "'Ulum al-Qur'an" 3/197) from Hammad bin Zayd. Both of them narrate it from 'Asim, with the same chain. Reference / Source: Abd al-Razzaq (5863) recorded it from Ma'mar and al-Thawri, from Abu Ishaq al-Sabi'i, from al-Harith al-A'war, from Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). Al-Harith is da'if, but here he is corroborated by Zirr bin Hubaysh.
