ما حدَّثَناه أبو الحسين عبد الصمد بن علي بن مُكرَم البزَّاز ببغداد، حدثنا محمد بن غالب، حدثنا خالد بن عبد الرحمن، حدثنا المعتمِر، عن سَلْم بن أبي الذَّيّال، عن عبد الله بن دينار، عن ابن عمر قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "لا يَجْمَعُ اللهُ هذه الأُمَّة - أو قال: أمتي - على الضَّلالة أبدًا، واتَّبعوا السَّوادَ الأعظمَ، فإنه مَن شَذَّ شَذَّ في النار" (2). قال لنا عمر بن جعفر البصري: هكذا في كتاب أبي الحسين: عن سَلْم بن أبي الذَّيّال. قال الحاكم أبو عبد الله: وهذا لو كان محفوظًا من الراوي، لكان من شرط الصحيح. والخلاف السادس على المعتمِر فيه:
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah will never gather this Ummah (or he said: my Ummah) upon misguidance; so follow al-Sawad al-A'zam (the great majority), for whoever separates, separates into Hell."
Imam al-Hakim says: If this is preserved (established) from the narrator, it meets the condition of the Sahih.

(2) صحيح لغيره، وخالد بن عبد الرحمن الراوي عن معتمر هنا لا يُعرَف إلَّا إذا كان هو خالد بن يزيد - أو ابن أبي يزيد - القَرْني، فقد أخرجه الخطيب في "الفقيه والمتفقه" (419) من طريق محمد بن الحسن البربهاري، عن محمد بن غالب، فقال فيه: عن خالد القرني. وله فيه طريق أخرى عنه من حديث أحمد بن الهيثم بن خالد قال: حدثنا خالد بن يزيد، فذكره.
Grading: This hadith is "sahih li-ghayrih".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The narrator here who narrates from Mu'tamir, Khalid bin Abd al-Rahman, is unknown, unless he is Khalid bin Yazid (or Ibn Abi Yazid) al-Qarni. Indeed, al-Khatib al-Baghdadi narrated it in "al-Faqih wa al-Mutafaqqih" (419) through the route of Muhammad bin al-Hasan al-Barbahari from Muhammad bin Ghalib, in which it is explicitly stated that he is "Khalid al-Qarni".
Details of the narration: He also has another chain for it from Ahmad bin al-Haytham bin Khalid, who said: Khalid bin Yazid narrated to us, and then he mentioned it.
وذكر سلم بن أبي الذيال فيه وهمٌ لعلَّة من محمد بن غالب، وهو التمتام، فلقد كان يخطئ أحيانًا في أسانيده، والحديث محفوظ عن المعتمر بن سليمان عن سليمان أبي سفيان المدني عن عبد الله بن دينار، كما في الأسانيد السابقة، وسليمان هذا ضعيف كما تقدم.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The mention of "Salm bin Abi al-Dhayyal" in this chain is an error (wahm), the cause of which is Muhammad bin Ghalib, known by the title "Tamtam"; he would sometimes err in his chains.
Important point: This hadith is "mahfuz" (preserved, correct) via al-Mu'tamir bin Sulayman from Sulayman Abu Sufyan al-Madani from Abd Allah bin Dinar, as passed in the previous chains, and this Sulayman, as mentioned before, is a "da'if" narrator.
Grading: This hadith is "sahih li-ghayrih".
