حدَّثنا محمد بن صالح بن هانئ، حدَّثنا السَّرِي بن خُزيمة، حدَّثنا موسى بن إسماعيل، حدَّثنا حماد بن سَلَمة، عن عطاء، عن عَرفجة، عن عبد الله بن مسعود قال: قَسَمُ ﴿وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ﴾: ﴿إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ﴾ إلى آخرها (2). هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the answer to the oath (its purpose) in "By the sky containing great constellations" [Surah al-Buruj: 1] is this saying of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: "Indeed, the grip of your Lord is severe" [Surah al-Buruj: 12], to the end of the surah.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
