Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: With fathah on the ta' and the ba': this is the reading of Ibn Kathir, Hamzah (who is Ibn Habib in this chain) and al-Kisa'i, from among the Seven (readers). Likewise read Umar bin al-Khattab, Ibn Mas'ud and his companions, Ibn Abbas, and most of the readers of Makkah and Kufah, as Ibn Jarir al-Tabari said in his Tafsir (30/122). The rest of the Seven readers read it with fathah on the ta' and dammah on the ba'.
Grading: Its chain is "jayyid" (good). Al-Hasan bin Atiyyah is "Ibn Najih al-Qurashi", who is saduq and there is no harm in him. Al-Dhahabi made an oversight (dhuhul) in "al-Talkhis" when he mentioned that there is weakness in him; perhaps his mind went to "al-Hasan bin Atiyyah bin Sa'd al-Awfi". Hamzah bin Habib is "al-Zayyat" (one of the Seven readers), Ibrahim is "Ibn Yazid al-Nakha'i", Alqamah is "Ibn Qays al-Nakha'i", and Abdullah is "Ibn Mas'ud".
Reference / Source: More than one narrator narrated it from al-A'mash, as in Ibrahim al-Harbi's "Gharib al-Hadith" (2/865) and al-Tabari's Tafsir (30/124, 125); they narrated it from him, from Ibrahim, from Ibn Mas'ud, dropping Alqamah from it. Some of them added at the end: "It will split, then turn red, then break apart."
Reference / Source: Something similar was narrated via Sufyan al-Thawri, from Abu Farwah Urwah bin al-Harith, from Murrah al-Hamdani, from Ibn Mas'ud. It was narrated by Ibn al-Mubarak in "al-Zuhd" (in the narration of Nu'aym bin Hammad, 352), Abd al-Razzaq in his Tafsir (2/359), and al-Tabarani in "al-Kabir" (9065), and the chain is "sahih".
