Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 3956

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are three qualities which, whoever has them, Allah Almighty will take his account very easily and admit him into Paradise by His mercy." The Companions said: O Messenger of Allah, who are those (fortunate ones)? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That you give to the one who deprives you, forgive the one who wrongs you, and join ties with the one who cuts you off." The questioner said: (O Messenger of Allah,) if I adopt these qualities, what will I get? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That your account will be taken very easily and Allah will admit you into Paradise by His mercy."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is "da'if jiddan" (very weak). Sulayman bin Dawud al-Yamami (Abu al-Jamal) is "matruk al-hadith", and it is for this reason that al-Dhahabi declared it defective in his "Talkhis".
Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Bayhaqi in "al-Sunan" (10/235) from Abu Abdullah al-Hakim, with this chain.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ibn Abi al-Dunya in "Makarim al-Akhlaq" (21), al-Tabarani in "al-Awsat" (909), al-Bushanji in "al-Manzum wa al-Manthur" (14), al-Wahidi in "al-Wasit" (4/453), and Ibn al-Fakhir in "Mujibat al-Jannah" (172, 330) via Sa'id bin Sulayman (al-Wasiti), likewise.
Reference / Source: Something similar was narrated by Ibn al-A'rabi in "al-Mu'jam" (1477), Ibn Adi in "al-Kamil" (4/110), and al-Khatib in "Tarikh Baghdad" (6/87) via Talhah bin Zayd, from al-Khalil bin Murrah, from Yahya bin Abi Kathir, likewise, with the wording: "Whoever wishes that Allah should raise the building for him and elevate his ranks on the Day of Resurrection, let him pardon …"
Grading: Talhah bin Zayd is "matruk al-hadith".
Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi narrated in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (7725) via Muhammad bin Yunus bin Khabbab, from his father, from al-Hasan al-Basri, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said: "Shall I not guide you to the noblest character in this world and the Hereafter?" They said: Yes indeed, O Messenger of Allah. He said: "Join ties with whoever cuts you off …"
Grading: This chain is "da'if". We did not find the biography of Muhammad bin Yunus bin Khabbab, and al-Hasan al-Basri did not hear from Abu Hurayrah, so it is "munqati'" (disconnected).
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic there is the hadith of Uqbah bin Amir in Ahmad (28/17452); he said: I met the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said to me: "O Uqbah bin Amir, join ties with whoever cuts you off, give to whoever deprives you, and pardon whoever wrongs you." Its chain is "hasan", and it is the most authentic narration on this topic. Something similar will come with the author (al-Hakim) under number (7472).
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic there is also the narration of Mu'adh bin Anas al-Juhani that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best of virtues is that you join ties with whoever cuts you off, give to whoever withholds from you, and overlook whoever reviles you." It was narrated by Ahmad (24/15618), and its chain is "da'if".
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: And from Abu Ishaq al-Sabi'i, from Abdullah bin Abi al-Husayn, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), as "mursal", that he said: "Shall I not tell you of the best character of the people of this world and the Hereafter? One who pardons whoever wronged him, gives to whoever deprived him, and joins ties with whoever cut him off …" It was narrated by Ma'mar in his "Jami'" (20237), Ibn Abi Shaybah in his "Musannaf" (14/43), and al-Bayhaqi in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (7947), who said: This is a "hasan mursal".
Important point: There are other reports (athar) on this topic, but their chains are "munkar".
