Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 3949

حدَّثنا محمد بن صالح بن هانئ، حدَّثنا السّرِيّ بن خُزيمة، حدَّثنا أبو غسّان، حدَّثنا شَرِيك، عن أبي إسحاق، عن عبدِ خيرٍ؛ وعن أبي حَصِين (1)، عن أبي عبد الرحمن، كلاهما عن عليٍّ: أنه خرج حين طَلَعَ الفجرُ فقال: نِعمَ ساعةُ الوتر هذه؛ ثم تلا ﴿وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ (17) وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ﴾ (2). صحيح علي شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he went out (of his house) as the dawn was breaking and said: "What an excellent hour this is for the Witr prayer!" Then he recited these verses: "And by the night as it departs, and by the morning as it brightens." [Surah al-Takwir: 17-18]
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Technical note / Defect ('illah): The narrator from Abu Hasin is "Sharik".

(2) خبر صحيح، وهذا إسناد حسن إن شاء الله من أجل شريك - وهو ابن عبد الله النخعي - وقد توبع. أبو غسان: مالك هو بن إسماعيل النهدي، وأبو إسحاق: هو عمرو بن عبد الله السَّبيعي، وأبو حَصين: هو عثمان بن عاصم، وأبو عبد الرحمن: هو عبد الله بن حبيب السُّلمي.
Grading: This report is "sahih", and, God willing, its chain is "hasan" because of Sharik (Ibn Abdullah al-Nakha'i), and he has been corroborated. Abu Ghassan is "Malik bin Isma'il al-Nahdi", Abu Ishaq is "Amr bin Abdullah al-Sabi'i", Abu Hasin is "Uthman bin Asim", and Abu Abd al-Rahman is "Abdullah bin Habib al-Sulami".
وأخرجه عبد الرزاق في "مصنفه" (4631) عن الحسن بن عمارة، عن أبي إسحاق، بإسناده.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Abd al-Razzaq in his "Musannaf" (4631) from al-Hasan bin Umarah, from Abu Ishaq, with his chain.
والحسن بن عمارة ليس بالقوي.
Grading: Al-Hasan bin Umarah is not strong (in hadith).
وأخرجه الطبري في "تفسيره" 30/ 78 من طريق مِسعَر بن كِدام، والطبراني في "الأوسط" (1451) من طريق محمد بن جحادة، كلاهما عن أبي حصين، بإسناده.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Tabari in his Tafsir (30/78) via Mis'ar bin Kidam, and al-Tabarani in "al-Awsat" (1451) via Muhammad bin Juhadah, both from Abu Hasin, with his chain.
وأخرجه عبد الرزاق (4630)، وأحمد 2/ (987)، وإبراهيم الحربي في "غريب الحديث" 1/ 333 - 334، والطبري 30/ 78، وأبو القاسم البغوي في "الجعديات" (121)، وابن خزيمة في "التوحيد" 2/ 878، والدولابي في "الكنى والأسماء" (889)، وابن المنذر في "الأوسط" (2626)، والبيهقي في "السنن الكبرى" 2/ 479، وفي "معرفة السنن والآثار" (5306) من طرق عن أبي عبد الرحمن السلمي، به وبعضهم لا يذكر فيه التلاوة.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Abd al-Razzaq (4630), Ahmad (2/987), Ibrahim al-Harbi in "Gharib al-Hadith" (1/333-334), al-Tabari (30/78), Abu al-Qasim al-Baghawi in "al-Ja'diyyat" (121), Ibn Khuzaymah in "al-Tawhid" (2/878), al-Dulabi in "al-Kuna wa al-Asma'" (889), Ibn al-Mundhir in "al-Awsat" (2626), and al-Bayhaqi in "al-Sunan al-Kubra" (2/479) and in "Ma'rifat al-Sunan wa al-Athar" (5306) through various routes from Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami, likewise. Some of them do not mention the recitation in it.
وأخرجه الطيالسي (169)، وابن المنذر (2625)، والبيهقي 2/ 479 من طرق عن علي.
