It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) addressed us at al-Jabiyah and said: I stand among you just as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood among us, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I enjoin you (to treat well) my Companions, then those who come after them, then those who come after them. Then lying will spread, until a man will swear an oath without being asked to, and give testimony without being asked to. So whoever among you wants the best and middle part of Paradise (buhbuhah), let him hold fast to the jama'ah (community), for Satan is with the one who is alone, and he is further from two. Beware! No man should be alone with a woman, otherwise Satan is the third of them" (he said this three times) "and hold fast to the jama'ah, for Satan is with the one and is further from two. Know that whoever is pleased by his good deed and grieved by his bad deed, he is the believer."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs, because there is no disagreement among the students of Abdullah bin al-Mubarak in narrating this chain from him, but they did not record it.

Hadith Takhrij«
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is sahih. Technical note / Defect ('illah): The name of the narrator "Abu al-Muwajjih" in the chain is Muhammad bin Amr al-Fazari, and "Abdan" is Abd Allah bin Uthman al-Marwazi. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it in 1/ (114) and Imam Ibn Hibban (7254) through two routes from Abd Allah bin al-Mubarak with this same chain. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ata' bin Muslim al-Khaffaf differed, narrating it via Muhammad bin Suqah from Abu Salih, that Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came to "al-Jabiyah", and he mentioned it. Imam al-Nasa'i (9182) narrated it, but this is one of the errors (awham) of Ata' bin Muslim, since he used to err frequently in his narrations; moreover, Abu Salih Dhakwan al-Samman did not meet Umar. Imam al-Nasa'i (9180) also narrated it from Umar through the route of Yazid bin Abd Allah bin al-Had from Abd Allah bin Dinar from al-Zuhri, but this is "munqati'" (broken), because Imam al-Zuhri did not live in Umar's time. Important point: Imam al-Bukhari in "al-Tarikh al-Kabir" 1/ 102 and Imam al-Daraqutni in "al-'Ilal" 2/ 67 declared this very (al-Zuhri) narration to be correct and preferred it over the narration of Muhammad bin Suqah, even though Muhammad bin Suqah is a "thiqah thabt" (trustworthy and firm) narrator and the chain reaching him is stronger than the chain of Yazid bin al-Had; and Allah knows best. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad 1/ (177), Ibn Majah (2363), al-Nasa'i (9175 - 9177) and Ibn Hibban (5586) and (6728) narrated it through the route of Abd al-Malik bin Umayr, from Jabir bin Samurah, from Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). 2/ 122 (155). Reference / Source: Imam al-Nasa'i narrated it in (9178) and (9179) also through the route of Abd al-Malik bin Umayr, from Abd Allah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him), from Umar. Besides this, other routes of it are narrated from Abd al-Malik bin Umayr, which Imam al-Daraqutni mentioned in "al-'Ilal" 2/ 122 (155). Important point: The words of the hadith "Whoever is gladdened by his good deed" have already passed with the author under number (32) as the hadith of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him). Note / Clarification: "Al-Jabiyah" is the name of a place near "Nawa", south of Damascus.
