أخبرنا أبو عمرو عثمان بن أحمد بن السَّمّاك ببغداد، حدثنا عبد الله بن محمد الحارثي، حدثنا علي بن قادِم، حدثنا سفيان الثَّوري، عن الأعمش، عن عثمان أبي اليَقْظان (1)، عن زاذانَ، عن علي في قول الله ﷿: ﴿كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ رَهِينَةٌ (38) إِلَّا أَصْحَابَ الْيَمِينِ (39)﴾، قال: أطفال المسلمين (2). هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) concerning this saying of Allah Almighty: "Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained, except the companions of the right" [Al-Muddaththir: 38-39], that he said: (By the companions of the right is meant) the children of the Muslims.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) في النسخ الخطية: عن عمران القطان، وهو تحريف، والتصويب من "القضاء والقدر" للبيهقي وبقية مصادر التخريج. Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts it is "from 'Imran al-Qattan", which is a "distortion"; the correction is from al-Bayhaqi's "al-Qada' wa al-Qadar" and the other source works.
(2) إسناده ضعيف جدًّا، عثمان أبو اليقظان متفق على تضعيفه منكر الحديث. Grading: Its chain is "da'if jiddan" (very weak); 'Uthman Abu al-Yaqzan is agreed to be weak, and he is munkar al-hadith. وأخرجه البيهقي في "القضاء والقدر" (635) عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد. Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi narrated it in "al-Qada' wa al-Qadar" (635) from Abu 'Abd Allah al-Hakim with this same chain. وأخرجه عبد الرزاق في "تفسيره" 2/ 270 و 330 عن سفيان الثوري، به. Reference / Source: 'Abd al-Razzaq narrated it in his Tafsir (2/270, 330) from Sufyan al-Thawri, likewise. وأخرجه الطبري في "تفسيره" 29/ 165، وابن عبد البر في "التمهيد" 6/ 352 و 18/ 115 من طرق عن سفيان الثوري، به.
