أخبرنا أبو بكر الشافعي، حدثنا إسحاق بن الحسن، حدثنا أبو حُذيفة، حدثنا سفيان، عن عطاء بن السائب، عن سعيد بن جُبير، عن ابن عبَّاس: ﴿ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ الْوَتِينَ (46)﴾ [الحاقة: 46] قال: نِيَاط القلب (1). هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه. [التعليق - من تلخيص الذهبي] ترقيم العلميه 3851 - صحيح
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning the saying of Allah Almighty: "Then We would have cut from him the aorta (al-watin)" [Al-Haqqah: 46], that he said: It refers to "niyat al-qalb", that is, the vein of the heart.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) خبر صحيح، وهذ إسناد حسن من أجل أبي حذيفة - وهو موسى بن مسعود النهدي - وقد توبع. إسحاق بن الحسن: هو الحربي، وسفيان: هو الثوري. Grading: This report is "sahih", and its chain is "hasan" because of Abu Hudhayfah (Musa bin Mas'ud al-Nahdi), and he has been corroborated. Ishaq bin al-Hasan is "al-Harbi" and Sufyan is "al-Thawri". وأخرجه وكيع في "الزهد" (61) عن سفيان الثوري، بهذا الإسناد. Reference / Source: Waki' narrated it in "al-Zuhd" (61) from Sufyan al-Thawri with this same chain. وأخرجه الطبري في "تفسيره" 29/ 67 من طريق عبد الرحمن بن مهدي ومهران الرازي، عن سفيان، به. Reference / Source: Al-Tabari narrated it in his Tafsir (29/67) by way of 'Abd al-Rahman bin Mahdi and Mihran al-Razi, from Sufyan, likewise. وأخرجه ابن وهب في التفسير من "الجامع" 1/ (85)، والطبري 29/ 67، وأبو حاتم في "الزهد" (45) من طرق عن عطاء بن السائب، به. Reference / Source: Ibn Wahb narrated it in the Tafsir section of "al-Jami'" (1/85), as did al-Tabari (29/67) and Abu Hatim in "al-Zuhd" (45), by various routes from 'Ata' bin al-Sa'ib, likewise. والنِّياط في كلام ابن عباس، فالمراد به عِرق عُلِّق به القلب، وهو المسمَّى الأَبْهَر. Note / Clarification: In the words of Ibn 'Abbas, "al-niyat" means the vein from which the heart hangs, and it is called "al-abhar" (the aorta).
