أخبرنا أبو زكريا يحيى بن محمد العَنبَري، حدثنا محمد بن عبد السلام، حدثنا إسحاق، أخبرنا عبد الرزاق، عن الثَّوْري، عن منصور، عن رِبْعيٍّ، عن علي بن أبي طالب في قوله ﷿: ﴿قُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ وَأَهْلِيكُمْ نَارًا﴾ [التحريم: 6] قال: علِّموا [أنفسَكم و] أهلِيكم (2) الخيرَ (3).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) concerning the saying of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, "Protect yourselves and your families from a Fire" [Al-Tahrim: 6], that he said: "(It means) teach yourselves and your families what is good."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(2) ما بين المعقوفين ليس في نسخنا الخطية، وأثبتناه من المطبوع وهو الموافق لما عند البيهقي في "شعب الإيمان" (8331) و "المدخل إلى السنن الكبرى" (372) حيث رواه فيهما عن المصنف بإسناده ومتنه.
Note / Clarification: The text between the square brackets is not in our manuscripts; we have established it from the printed edition, which agrees with al-Bayhaqi's "Shu'ab al-Iman" (8331) and "al-Madkhal ila al-Sunan al-Kubra" (372), where he narrated it from the author (al-Hakim) with his chain and text.
(3) إسناده صحيح. إسحاق: هو ابن راهويه، والثوري: هو سفيان، ومنصور: هو ابن المعتمر، وربعي: هو ابن حِراش.
Grading: Its chain is "sahih". Ishaq is "Ibn Rahawayh", al-Thawri is "Sufyan", Mansur is "Ibn al-Mu'tamir" and Rib'i is "Ibn Hirash".
والخبر في "مصنف عبد الرزاق" (4741)، و "تفسيره" 2/ 303، إلّا أنه وقع فيهما: منصور عن رجل عن علي، بإبهام راويه عن علي.
Reference / Source: This report is in "Musannaf Abd al-Razzaq" (4741) and his "Tafsir" (2/303), but there it reads: "Mansur from a man from Ali", i.e. the narrator from Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) is left unnamed (mubham).
وهو كذلك بإبهام الراوي عن عليٍّ عند الطبري في "التفسير" 28/ 165 و 166، والآجري في "أدب النفوس" (12)، والخطيب في "الفقيه والمتفقه" (171) من طرق عن سفيان، به.
