It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jubayr bin Mut'im (may Allah be pleased with him) concerning the saying of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: "The Hour has drawn near and the moon has split" [Surah al-Qamar: 1], that he said: The moon split while we were in Makkah, in the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Imam al-Hakim said: All these corroborating narrations (shawahid) for the hadith of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) are sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs.

2/ 268. Grading: It is "sahih li-ghayrihi"; this chain has "lin" (softness, i.e. weakness) because Jubayr bin Muhammad bin Jubayr's status is unknown. Technical note / Defect ('illah): There is disagreement in the narrations from Husayn bin 'Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami over whether he mentioned Jubayr in the chain or not; al-Daraqutni ("al-'Ilal" 3315) and al-Bayhaqi ("Dala'il al-Nubuwwah" 2/ 268) preferred that he is mentioned. Reference / Source: Ahmad (27/ 16750), al-Tirmidhi (3289) and Ibn Hibban (6497) narrated it by two routes from Husayn bin 'Abd al-Rahman (from Muhammad bin Jubayr bin Mut'im from his father).
