أخبرنا أبو العبَّاس محمد بن أحمد المحبُوبي، حَدَّثَنَا سعيد بن مسعود، أخبرنا يزيد بن هارون، أخبرنا سفيان بن حُسين، عن الزُّهْري، عن أبي أُمامة بن سهل بن حُنَيف، عن أبيه قال: كان رسول الله ﷺ يأتي ضعفاءَ المسلمين ويزورُهم، ويعودُ مَرْضاهم، ويَشْهَدُ جنائزَهم (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه. ﷽ [51 - ومن سورة (والذاريات)]

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to go to the weak among the Muslims, visit them, visit their sick, and attend their funerals.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) حديث صحيح، وهذا إسناد رجاله ثقات إلّا أنَّ سفيان بن حسين مع ثقته قد ضعِّف في الزهري، وقد خالفه الأوزاعي عند إسحاق بن راهويه كما في "المطالب العالية" (2525) فرواه عن الزهري عن أبي أمامة بن سهل مرسلًا لم يذكر أباه، وأبو أُمامة مختلف في صحبته، والصحيح أنه ولد في حياة النَّبِيّ ﷺ وليست له صحبة.
Grading: This hadith is "sahih"; its narrators are thiqah, but Sufyan bin Husayn has been graded weak in his narration from al-Zuhri.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Awza'i contradicted him (Ishaq bin Rahawayh: al-Matalib al-Aliyah 2525) and narrated it from al-Zuhri, from Abu Umamah bin Sahl as "mursal", without mentioning his father. There is disagreement over whether Abu Umamah was a Companion; the correct view is that he was born during the Prophet's lifetime but was not a Companion.
وأما حديث سفيان بن حسين، فقد أخرجه البيهقي في "شعب الإيمان" (8809)، و "الآداب" (341) عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: The hadith of Sufyan bin Husayn was recorded by al-Bayhaqi in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (8809) and "al-Adab" (341) through Abu Abd Allah al-Hakim.
وأخرجه ابن أبي شيبة في "مصنفه" 3/ 276 و 361، والطبراني (5586) من طريق سعيد بن يحيى الحميري، عن سفيان بن حسين، به.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Shaybah (3/ 276, 361) and al-Tabarani (5586) recorded it via Sa'id bin Yahya al-Himyari, from Sufyan bin Husayn.
ويشهد له ما قبله.
