It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he was asked about this verse, "He utters no word except that with him is a watcher ready (to record it)" [Surah Qaf: 18], and he said: "Only good and evil are written. It is not written (such ordinary words as): 'O boy, saddle the horse,' or 'O boy, give me water to drink.' Only that is written which contains good or sin."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
