It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Miqdam bin Ma'dikarib al-Kindi (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of Khaybar the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) declared certain things unlawful, among them the domestic donkey and other things. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Soon a man among you will be sitting reclining on his couch; a hadith of mine will be narrated to him, and he will say: 'Between me and you is the Book of Allah (and it is sufficient). Whatever we find lawful in it, we will regard as lawful, and whatever we find unlawful in it, we will regard as unlawful.' (Listen!) Indeed, whatever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has made unlawful is just like what Allah has made unlawful."
