It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Tha'labah al-Khushani (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The jinn are of three kinds: one kind has wings and flies through the air; another kind is snakes and dogs; and a third kind stays in places and journeys on."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This hadith is "strong", and this chain is "hasan" in corroborations and supporting reports because of Abd Allah bin Salih (the scribe of al-Layth), and he has been corroborated. The rest of the narrators are thiqah. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Uthman bin Sa'id is al-Darimi, and Abu al-Zahiriyyah is Hudayr bin Kurayb. Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban (6156) recorded it via Abd Allah bin Wahb, from Mu'awiyah bin Salih, with this same chain. Note / Clarification: "Yahulluna wa yaz'anun" means: they settle and they set out.
