It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: Allah Almighty sent upon the people of Ad no wind except the size of (the hole of) this ring of mine.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it, whereas Imam Muslim alone recorded, through the narration of Mas'ud bin Malik by way of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, the wording: "I have been helped by the east wind (saba)."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is "hasan" because of Mu'adh bin Najdah al-Qurashi. Sufyan is al-Thawri. Reference / Source: Ibn Mandah recorded it in "al-Tawhid" (57) via two routes from Qabisah bin Uqbah with this same chain. Reference / Source: Al-Tabari recorded it in his "Tafsir" (26/ 27) via Za'idah bin Qudamah, from al-A'mash. Reference / Source: Abu Nu'aym recorded it in "al-Hilyah" (7/ 131) via Mahmud bin Maymun al-Banna, from Sufyan, as marfu'. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Mahmud bin Maymun is unknown; no biography of him was found. Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani recorded it in "al-Kabir" (12416) and Abu al-Shaykh in "al-Azamah" (807) via Abu Malik Amr bin Hashim, from Muslim bin Kaysan al-Mula'i, from Mujahid and Sa'id bin Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, as marfu'. Grading: This chain is "very weak"; Muslim al-Mula'i is matruk and Abu Malik al-Janbi is da'if. Reference / Source: Muslim al-Mula'i also narrated it from Mujahid, from Ibn Umar, as marfu', as found in al-Tabarani (13553), but it is "not sahih".
Grading: This hadith is marfu' to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and through this same route it is in Muslim (no. 900), with this addition: "And 'Ad were destroyed by the dabur (the westerly wind)." Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari (1035) and Muslim (900) also recorded it via al-Hakam bin Utaybah, from Mujahid, from Ibn Abbas.
