أخبرنا أبو العبَّاس محمد بن أحمد المحبُوبي، حَدَّثَنَا سعيد بن مسعود، أخبرنا يزيد بن هارون، أخبرنا محمد بن إسحاق، عن أبي الزِّناد، عن الأعرج، عن أبي هريرة قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "قال الله ﷿: استَقرضتُ من عبدي فأَبَى أن يُقرِضَني، وسَبَّني عبدي ولا يَدري، يقول: وادَهْراهْ، وادَهْراهْ، وأنا الدَّهرُ" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه بهذه السِّياقة.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said: I asked My servant for a loan, but he refused to lend to Me. And My servant reviled Me while he does not know (the reality of it); he says: Alas for time! Alas for time! whereas I am time (its Creator)."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, and the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it with this wording.

(1) حديث صحيح، لكن المحفوظ أنه بهذا اللفظ من رواية يزيد بن هارون عن ابن إسحاق العلاء بن عبد الرحمن بن يعقوب عن أبيه عن أبي هريرة كما سلف برقم (1540) وكما سيأتي برقم (3858)، وقد انفرد سعيد بن مسعود المروزي - على ثقته - من بين أصحاب يزيد بن هارون برواية هذا اللفظ بهذا الإسناد.
Grading: This hadith is "sahih", but the preserved version (mahfuz) is that these words are in the narration of Yazid bin Harun, from Ibn Ishaq, from al-Ala' bin Abd al-Rahman bin Ya'qub, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah (as passed at no. 1540 and as will come at no. 3858).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Sa'id bin Mas'ud al-Marwazi (despite being thiqah) is alone among the students of Yazid bin Harun in narrating these words with this chain.
وأما لفظ حديث أبي الزناد - وهو عبد الله بن ذكوان - عن الأعرج - وهو عبد الرحمن بن هرمز - عن أبي هريرة فهو: "لا يقولن أحدكم: يا خيبةَ الدهر، فإنَّ الله هو الدهر"، أخرجه أحمد 15/ (9116) من طريق سفيان الثوري، ومسلم (2246) (4) من طريق المغيرة بن عبد الرحمن، وابن حبان (5713) من طريق مالك، ثلاثتهم عن أبي الزناد، به.
Details of the narration: As for the wording of the hadith of Abu al-Zinad (Abd Allah bin Dhakwan), from al-A'raj (Abd al-Rahman bin Hurmuz), from Abu Hurayrah, it is: "None of you should say: O the misfortune of time! For Allah is time (the One who brings about the events of time)."
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ahmad (15/ 9116), Muslim (2246) and Ibn Hibban (5713) via Abu al-Zinad.
