حَدَّثَنَا أبو العبَّاس محمد بن يعقوب، حَدَّثَنَا الحسن بن علي بن عفَّان العامِري، حَدَّثَنَا يحيى بن فَصِيل، حَدَّثَنَا الحسن بن صالح بن حيٍّ، عن عبد الله بن محمد بن عَقِيل، عن جابر بن عبد الله: ﴿وَإِنَّكَ لَتَهْدِى إِلَى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ﴾ [الشورى: 52]، قال: الصراطُ المستقيم هو الإسلامُ، وهو أوسعُ ما بينَ السماءِ والأرضِ (2). هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning the saying of Allah Almighty: "And indeed, you guide to a straight path" [Surah al-Shura: 52], that he said: "What is meant by the straight path is Islam, and it is wider than the distance between the earth and the heaven."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) in its chain of narration, and the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Grading: Because of Abd Allah bin Muhammad bin Aqil, there is a possibility that its chain is "hasan". وقد سلف برقم (3061) من طريق أبي نعيم عن الحسن بن صالح. Reference / Source: This hadith passed earlier at no. (3061) via Abu Nu'aym from al-Hasan bin Salih.
