حدثني محمد بن صالح بن هانئ، حدثنا السّرِي بن خُزيمة، حدثنا عبد الله بن يزيد المقرئ، حدثنا سعيد بن يزيد عن أبي السَّمْح، عن عيسى بن هلال الصَّدَفي، عن عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "لو أنَّ رصاصةً من هذه مِثلَ هذه - وأشار إلى مثل الجُمجُمة - أُرسِلَت من السماء إلى الأرض، وهي مَسيرةُ خمسِ مئة سنةٍ، لبَلَغَت الأرضَ قبلَ الليل"، وتلا رسولُ الله ﷺ: ﴿إِذِ الْأَغْلَالُ فِي أَعْنَاقِهِمْ وَالسَّلَاسِلُ يُسْحَبُونَ﴾ الآيات [غافر: 71] (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If a ball of lead like this one, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed to something like a skull, were released from the heaven towards the earth, which is a distance of five hundred years, it would reach the earth before nightfall." And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited these verses: "When the iron collars will be around their necks, and the chains; they will be dragged." [Surah Ghafir: 71]
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) إسناده ضعيف لتفرُّد أبي السمح به - وهو درَّاج - فهو إنما يعتبر بحديثه في المتابعات والشواهد. سعيد بن يزيد: هو الحميري القَتْباني.
Grading: This chain is "da'if" (weak) because "Abu al-Samh" (Darraj) is alone in narrating it; his hadith is taken into account only in corroborating chains and supporting reports.
Note / Clarification: Sa'id bin Yazid is al-Himyari al-Qitbani.
وأخرجه أحمد (11/ 6856) و (6857)، والترمذي (2588) من طريق عبد الله بن المبارك، عن سعيد بن يزيد بهذا الإسناد. ولم يذكر التلاوة، وحسَّنه الترمذي.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by Ahmad (11/ 6856, 6857) and al-Tirmidhi (2588) via Abd Allah bin al-Mubarak, from Sa'id bin Yazid, with this chain (without mention of the recitation), and al-Tirmidhi called it "hasan".
