Mustadrak al-Hakim 3676 — Tafsir of Surah Ha Mim al-Mu'min

حدثنا أبو بكر محمد بن أحمد بن بالَوَيهِ، حدثنا بِشْر بن موسى، حدثنا الحُمَيدي، حدثنا سفيان، عن ابن أبي نَجِيح، عن مجاهد قال: قال عبد الله بن مسعود: الحواميمُ دِيباجُ القرآن (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "The Hawamim (that is, the surahs that begin with 'Ha Mim') are the brocade (the silk and adornment) of the Qur'an."

قال سفيان: وحدثني حبيب بن أبي ثابت، عن رجلٍ: أنه مرَّ على أبي الدَّرداء وهو يَبني مسجدًا، فقال: ما هذا؟ فقال: هذا لآلِ حاميمَ (2).

Sufyan said: Habib bin Abi Thabit narrated to me from a man that he passed by Hadrat Abu al-Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was building a mosque. That man asked (on seeing the effort or purpose of the construction): "What is this?" Hadrat Abu al-Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: "This is for the family of Ha Mim (the surahs beginning with Ha Mim)."

(1) رجاله ثقات إلّا أنه منقطع، مجاهد لم يدرك ابنَ مسعود وروايته عنه مرسلة. سفيان: هو ابن عيينة.
Grading: Its narrators are thiqah, but it is "munqati'" (broken): Mujahid did not meet Ibn Mas'ud, and his narration from him is "mursal".
وأخرجه والذي يليه البيهقي في "شعب الإيمان" (2243) عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: It and the one after it were recorded by al-Bayhaqi in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (2243) from Abu Abd Allah al-Hakim, with this chain.
وأخرج هذا الشطر منه عبد الرزاق في "مصنفه" (6031)، وكذا ابن أبي شيبة 10/ 558 عن سفيان بن عيينة، به - إلّا أنَّ عبد الرزاق وقفه على مجاهد من قوله.
Reference / Source: This part of it was recorded by Abd al-Razzaq (6031) and Ibn Abi Shaybah (10/ 558) from Sufyan bin Uyaynah, but Abd al-Razzaq made it "mawquf" on Mujahid.
