Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: The hadith is sahih, and this chain is "hasan" for corroborating chains and supporting reports. The hadith of "Ya'qub bin Muhammad al-Zuhri" has "softness" (lin) (al-Dhahabi gave this as its defect in al-Talkhis), but he is taken into account in corroborations, and he has been corroborated. Reference / Source: It was recorded by al-Bukhari (3570, 7515) through two routes from Sulayman bin Bilal, from Sharik bin Abi Namir, from Anas, in the story of the Mi'raj. It is also in Muslim (162-262), but the wording is not given there. So al-Hakim's inclusion of it as an addition (istidrak) is an "oversight" (dhuhul) on his part. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A supporting report for it is the marfu' hadith of A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) (al-Bukhari 1147, Muslim 738); she said: I asked: O Messenger of Allah! Do you sleep before praying Witr? He said: "O A'ishah! My eyes sleep, but my heart does not sleep." Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The hadith of Abu Hurayrah (Ahmad 12/ 7417, Ibn Hibban 6386) is also a supporting report, and its chain is "qawi" (strong). (7281) Corroborating chains and supporting reports: In this chapter there is also the hadith of Jabir (al-Bukhari 7281). (763). Note / Clarification: See also the hadith of Ibn Abbas (Ahmad 3/ 1911, al-Bukhari 138, Muslim 763).
