حدثنا أبو جعفر محمد بن أحمد بن سعيد الرازي، حدثنا أبو زُرْعة عبيد الله بن عبد الكريم، حدثنا أبو حفص عامر بن سعيد، حدثنا القاسم بن مالك المُزَني، عن عبد الرحمن بن إسحاق، عن سيَّارٍ أبي الحَكَم، عن أبي وائل، عن عبد الله قال: لما قال صاحبُ ياسين: ﴿يَاقَوْمِ اتَّبِعُوا الْمُرْسَلِينَ﴾ [يس: 20] قال: خَنَقُوه ليموتَ، فالْتفتَ إلى الأنبياء فقال: ﴿إِنِّي آمَنْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ فَاسْمَعُونِ﴾ [يس: 25] أي: فاشهَدُوا لي (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the companion of Ya Sin (Habib al-Najjar) said: "O my people, follow the messengers" [Surah Ya Sin: 20], (the people of his nation) strangled him so that he would die. At that moment he turned towards the prophets and said: "Indeed, I have believed in your Lord, so listen to me" [Surah Ya Sin: 25], meaning: be witnesses to this faith of mine.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(2) إسناده ضعيف لضعف عبد الرحمن بن إسحاق - وهو أبو شيبة الواسطي - وبه أعلّه الذهبي في "تلخيصه". أبو وائل: هو شقيق بن سلمة، وعبد الله: هو ابن مسعود.
Grading: This chain is "da'if" (weak) because of the weakness of "Abd al-Rahman bin Ishaq" (Abu Shaybah al-Wasiti); al-Dhahabi gave this as its defect in "al-Talkhis".
Note / Clarification: Abu Wa'il is Shaqiq bin Salamah, and Abd Allah is Ibn Mas'ud.
Grading: This chain is "da'if" (weak) because of the weakness of "Abd al-Rahman bin Ishaq" (Abu Shaybah al-Wasiti); al-Dhahabi gave this as its defect in "al-Talkhis".
