It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a man of my Ummah reaches the age of sixty years, Allah Almighty has certainly left him no excuse regarding his lifespan (that is, He has given him ample respite for repentance and reform)."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts this is corrupted into "al-Anbari". It occurs correctly in the author's work repeatedly, in several places.
Grading: The hadith is sahih, and this chain is hasan in corroborating chains and supporting reports because of "Abd Allah bin Salih, the scribe of al-Layth". Reference / Source: Ahmad recorded it (14/ 8262) via Muhammad bin Ajlan, and (15/ 9251) via Abu Ma'shar Najih al-Sindi, both from Sa'id al-Maqburi, with this same chain. Reference / Source: Ahmad (15/ 9394) and Ibn Hibban (2979) recorded it via Ya'qub bin Abd al-Rahman al-Iskandarani, from Abu Hazim (Salamah bin Dinar), from Sa'id al-Maqburi, with this same chain. 3/ 370. Reference / Source: Likewise his son Abd al-Aziz recorded it from Abu Hazim, in al-Ramahurmuzi's "Amthal al-Hadith" (28), al-Quda'i's "Musnad al-Shihab" (424) and al-Bayhaqi's "al-Sunan" (3/ 370). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Hammad bin Zayd narrated it from Abu Hazim (as will come in the author's work at number 3643) and made it his narration from Sahl bin Sa'd al-Sa'idi. Al-Daraqutni said in "al-Ilal" (8/ 133, no. 1455): He erred in it, though he rarely erred. (3642) Note / Clarification: See what will come at (3641) and (3642). Note / Clarification: Regarding the words "a'dhara Allahu ilayhi" (Allah has left him no excuse), the hafiz Ibn Hajar says in "Fath al-Bari" (20/ 25): I'dhar means the removal of excuse; the meaning is that he (the person) has no excuse left, such as saying: "Had my term been extended, I would have done what I was commanded." It is said "a'dhara ilayhi" when one gives him the utmost scope for excuse and enables him to use it.
Note / Clarification: Rather, al-Bukhari recorded it, as will come under hadith (3642), so al-Hakim's including it as a supplement (istidrak) is an oversight on his part.
