حدثنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن عبد الله الصَّفّار، حدثنا أحمد بن مِهْران، حدثنا أبو نُعيم، حدثنا سفيان، عن عبد الله بن عثمان بن خُثَيم، عن مجاهد، عن ابن عبَّاس في قوله ﷿: ﴿أَوَلَمْ نُعَمِّرْكُمْ مَا يَتَذَكَّرُ فِيهِ مَنْ تَذَكَّرَ﴾ [فاطر: 37]، قال: ستّين سنةً (2). صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning the saying of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: "Did We not give you a life long enough for whoever would take heed to take heed therein?" [Surah Fatir: 37] He said: What is meant by it is an age of sixty years.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(2) إسناده حسن من أجل أحمد بن مهران - وهو ابن خالد الأصبهاني - وقد توبع، وعبد الله بن عثمان بن خثيم صدوق لا بأس به، وبقية رجاله ثقات. أبو نعيم: هو الفضل بن دُكين، وسفيان: هو الثوري.
Grading: This chain is hasan because of "Ahmad bin Mihran" (Ibn Khalid al-Asbahani), and he has been corroborated. "Abd Allah bin Uthman bin Khuthaym" is saduq (truthful) and acceptable, and the rest of its narrators are thiqah.
Note / Clarification: Abu Nu'aym is al-Fadl bin Dukayn, and Sufyan is al-Thawri.
وأخرجه البيهقي في "السنن" 3/ 370 عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi recorded it in "al-Sunan" (3/ 370) from Abu Abd Allah al-Hakim, with this same chain.
وأخرجه عبد الرزاق في "تفسيره" 2/ 138 عن معمر وسفيان الثوري، به.

وخالف بشرُ بن المفضل عند الطبري فرواه عن ابن خثيم فقال فيه: أربعون سنة. وبشر ثقة لكن روايته هذه شاذَّة.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Bishr bin al-Mufaddal differed in al-Tabari, narrating it from Ibn Khuthaym and saying in it "forty years". Bishr is thiqah, but this narration of his is shadh (anomalous).
