Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 3605

حدثنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن عبد الله بن دينار العَدْل، حدثنا الحسين بن الفَضْل البَجَلي، حدثنا عفَّان بن مُسلِم، حدثنا حمّاد بن زيد، عن ثابت، عن أنس قال: جاء زيدُ بن حارثةَ يَشكُو إلى رسول الله ﷺ من زينب بنت جَحْش، فقال النبي ﷺ: "أَمسِكْ عليك أَهلَك"، فنزلت: ﴿وَتُخْفِي فِي نَفْسِكَ مَا اللَّهُ مُبْدِيهِ﴾ [الأحزاب: 37] (2).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Zayd bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with a complaint about Sayyidah Zaynab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Keep your wife with you." Then this verse was revealed: [Surah al-Ahzab: 37] "And you were concealing within yourself that which Allah was to disclose."

Grading: Its chain is sahih.
وأخرجه ابن حبان (7045) من طريق محمد بن عبد الرحيم، عن عفان، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban (7045) recorded it via Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahim, from Affan, with this same chain.
وأخرجه بنحوه أحمد (19/ 12511)، والبخاري (4787)، والترمذي (3212)، والنسائي (11343) من طرق عن حماد بن زيد، به.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (19/ 12511), al-Bukhari (4787), al-Tirmidhi (3212) and al-Nasa'i (11343) recorded something similar via several routes from Hammad bin Zayd, with this same chain.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
