Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 3591

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) that we were present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was describing the qualities of Paradise, until he (peace and blessings be upon him) completed his words, then he said: "In it (Paradise) are such blessings as no eye has ever seen, no ear has ever heard, and which have never occurred to the heart of any human being." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "Their sides forsake their beds." [Surah al-Sajdah: 16] Abu Sakhr says: I mentioned this to Imam al-Qurazi, and he said: These people concealed their deeds for the sake of Allah, so Allah also kept their reward concealed for them; so when they present themselves before Allah, their eyes will be comforted.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Note / Clarification: Manuscript (Z) has the word "fadhakartu".

Grading: The hadith is sahih, and this chain is hasan because of "Abd Allah bin Suwayd bin Hayyan" and "Abu Sakhr" (Humayd bin Ziyad), and both of them have been corroborated.
Note / Clarification: Abu Hazim is Salamah bin Dinar.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (37/ 22826) and Muslim (2825) recorded it via Abd Allah bin Wahb, from Abu Sakhr, with this same chain. So al-Hakim's including it as a supplement (istidrak) is an oversight on his part.
