حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا الرَّبيع بن سليمان، حدثنا شعيب بن الليث، حدثنا الليث. وأخبرني عمرو بن محمد بن منصور العَدْل وأحمد بن يعقوب الثقفي، قالا: حدثنا عمر بن حفص السَّدُوسي، حدثنا عاصم بن علي، حدثنا الليث بن سعد، أخبرني سعيد بن أبي سعيد المَقْبُري، عن أخيه عبَّاد بن أبي سعيد، أنه سمع أبا هريرة يقول: كان رسول الله ﷺ يدعو فيقول: "اللهمَّ إني أعوذُ بك من الأربع: من علمٍ لا يَنفَع، وقلبٍ لا يَخشَع، ونفسٍ لا تَشبَع، ودعاءٍ لا يُسمَع" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح ولم يُخرجاه، فإنهما لم يُخرجا عبَّادَ بن أبي سعيد المَقْبُري، لا لجَرْح فيه بل لقِلَّة حديثه وقِلَّة الحاجة إليه. وقد رواه محمد بن عَجْلان عن سعيد المقبُري عن أبي هريرة، ولم يذكر أخاه عبَّادًا:

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min al-arba': min 'ilmin la yanfa', wa qalbin la yakhsha', wa nafsin la tashba', wa du'a'in la yusma'' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from four things: from knowledge that does not benefit, from a heart that does not humble itself (before You), from a soul that is not satisfied, and from a supplication that is not accepted).
This hadith is sahih (authentic), but they did not record it, because neither of them narrated from Abbad bin Abi Sa'id al-Maqburi, not because of any criticism of him, but because of the small number of his narrations and the little need for him.

(1) حديث صحيح عباد بن أبي سعيد لم يرو عنه سوى أخيه سعيد هذا الحديث الواحد، وقد تابعه فيه أخوه سعيد مرة أخرى كما سيأتي في الحديث التالي، فلعلَّ سعيدًا قد سمعه على الوجهين، والله تعالى أعلم.
Grading: This is a "sahih" hadith.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): No one other than his brother Sa'id narrated from the narrator Abbad bin Abi Sa'id, and only this single hadith; however, his brother Sa'id corroborated him in it on another occasion, as will come in the next hadith. Perhaps Sa'id heard it in both ways; and Allah knows best.
وأخرجه أحمد 14/ (8488) و (8779) و 15/ (9829)، وأبو داود (1548)، وابن ماجه (3837)، والنسائي (7820) و (7822) و (7824) من طرق عن الليث بن سعد، بهذا الإسناد. وسيتكرر برقم (1979).
