حدثنا أبو العبَّاس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا بكَّار بن قُتيبة القاضي، حدثنا صفوان بن عيسى القاضي، حدثنا حُميد الخرَّاط، عن عمّار الدُّهْني، عن سعيد بن جُبير، عن أبي الصَّهباء، عن ابن مسعود قال: ﴿وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَشْتَرِي لَهْوَ الْحَدِيثِ لِيُضِلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ﴾ [لقمان: 6]، قال: هو واللهِ الغِناءُ (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) concerning this saying of Allah Almighty, "And among the people is he who buys idle talk to lead (others) astray from the path of Allah" [Surah Luqman: 6], that he said: "By Allah! What is meant by it is singing."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) إسناده ضعيف لانقطاعه، فإنَّ عمارًا الدهني لم يسمع من سعيد بن جبير شيئًا، وضعّفه الحافظ ابن حجر في "الفتح" 19/ 194، وحميد الخراط - وهو ابن زياد أبو صخر - ليس بذاك الثقة. أبو الصهباء: هو صهيب البكري مولى ابن عبَّاس.
Grading: Its chain is "da'if" because of an "inqita'" (break), since Ammar al-Duhni did not hear anything from Sa'id bin Jubayr. Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar declared it weak in "al-Fath" (19/ 194).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Also, Humayd al-Kharrat (Ibn Ziyad Abu Sakhr) is not that trustworthy. Abu al-Sahba' is Suhayb al-Bakri, the freed slave of Ibn Abbas.
وأخرجه البيهقي 10/ 223 عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد.

وأخرجه ابن أبي الدنيا في "ذم الملاهي" (26) - ومن طريقه البيهقي في "شعب الإيمان" (4743) - والطبري في "تفسيره" 21/ 61 من طريقين عن صفوان بن عيسى، به.

وروي عن ابن عبَّاس أنه قال: هو الغناء ونحوه. وهو صحيح عنه، أخرجه ابن أبي شيبة 6/ 310، والبخاري في "الأدب المفرد" (786) و (1265)، وابن أبي الدنيا في "ذم الملاهي" (27)، والطبري 21/ 61 و 62.
Important point: It is narrated from Ibn Abbas that he said: It refers to "singing" and similar things. And this is established as "sahih" from him.
