حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، أخبرنا محمد بن عبد الله بن عبد الحَكَم، أخبرنا ابن وهب، أخبرني سعيد بن أبي أيوب، عن أبي هانئ الخَوْلاني، عن مسلم بن يَسَار، عن أبي هريرة، عن رسول الله ﷺ قال: "سيكون في آخرِ الزَّمان ناسٌ من أمَّتي يحدِّثونكم بما لم تَسْمَعُوا أنتم ولا آباؤُكم، فإيَّاكم وإيَّاهم" (3).
هذا حديث ذَكَرَه مسلم في خُطْبة الكتاب مع الحكايات، ولم يُخرجاه في أبواب الكتاب، وهو صحيح على شرطهما جميعًا، ومحتاج إليه في الجَرْح والتعديل، ولا أعلمُ له علَّة.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In the last age there will be people from my Ummah who will narrate to you things that neither you nor your forefathers have heard, so keep yourselves away from them."
Imam Muslim mentioned this hadith in the introduction of his book along with the reports, but did not record it in the chapters of the book, although it is sahih (authentic) on the condition of both of them, and it is needed in the matter of criticism and accreditation of narrators (al-jarh wa al-ta'dil), and I know of no hidden defect ('illah) in it.
Imam Muslim mentioned this hadith in the introduction of his book along with the reports, but did not record it in the chapters of the book, although it is sahih (authentic) on the condition of both of them, and it is needed in the matter of criticism and accreditation of narrators (al-jarh wa al-ta'dil), and I know of no hidden defect ('illah) in it.

(3) إسناده حسن من أجل مسلم بن يسار أبي عثمان الطُّنبذي. أبو هانئ الخولاني: هو حميد بن هانئ.
Grading: This chain is "hasan" on account of Muslim bin Yasar Abu Uthman al-Tunbudhi.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Hani' al-Khawlani in the chain refers to Humayd bin Hani'.
وأخرجه مسلم (7)، وابن حبان (6766) من طريقين عن عبد الله بن وهب، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Imam Muslim narrated it in the introduction to his "Sahih" (7) and Imam Ibn Hibban in (6766), via two different routes from Abd Allah bin Wahb with this same chain.
وأخرجه أحمد 14/ (8267)، ومسلم (6) من طريق أبي عبد الرحمن عبد الله بن يزيد المقرئ، عن سعيد بن أبي أيوب، به.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it in (14/ 8267) and Imam Muslim in (6) with the chain Abu Abd al-Rahman Abd Allah bin Yazid al-Muqri' from Sa'id bin Abi Ayyub.
وأخرجه بنحوه أحمد 14/ (8596) من طريق ابن لهيعة، عن سلامان بن عامر، عن أبي عثمان الأصبحي، عن أبي هريرة وإسناده ضعيف.
Grading: This chain is "weak" because of Ibn Lahi'ah.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it in (14/ 8596) via Ibn Lahi'ah, with the chain Salaman bin Amir from Abu Uthman al-Asbahi.
Grading: This chain is "hasan" on account of Muslim bin Yasar Abu Uthman al-Tunbudhi.
