أخبرنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن عبد الله الصَّفّار، حدثنا أحمد بن مِهْران، حدثنا عُبيد الله بن موسى، أخبرنا إسرائيل، عن سِمَاك بن حَرْب، عن عِكْرمة، عن ابن عبّاس في قوله ﷿: ﴿لَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ سَمِيًّا﴾ [مريم: 7]، قال: لم يُسَمَّ يحيى قبلَه (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning this saying of Allah Almighty: "We have not made anyone before him of this name" [Surah Maryam: 7]; he said: "No one before him had been named Yahya."
The chain of narration of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) إسناده حسن من أجل سماك بن حرب.
Grading: (1) Its chain is "hasan" because of Simak bin Harb.
وأخرجه ابن أبي شيبة 11/ 560، وأبو عروبة الحراني في "الأوائل" (38) من طريقين عن إسرائيل، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Shaybah (11/ 560) and Abu 'Arubah al-Harrani in "al-Awa'il" (38) recorded it via two routes from Isra'il, with this chain.
وسيأتي عند المصنف ضمن حديث برقم (4191) بإسناد آخر حسن عن ابن عبَّاس.
Note / Clarification: It will come with the author (al-Hakim), within a hadith at no. (4191), with another "hasan" chain from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both).
