Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 3437

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said concerning the saying of Allah Almighty: "And beneath it (the wall) was a treasure belonging to the two of them." [Surah al-Kahf: 82] "It was gold and silver."

Hadith Grading
Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (2) Its chain is "very weak" (da'if jiddan) because of Yazid bin Yusuf (al-San'ani). For this reason al-Dhahabi declared it defective in his "Talkhis" and said: "Yazid bin Yusuf is matruk (abandoned), even though his hadith is closer to the meaning of 'kanz' (treasure)."
Reference / Source: And al-Tirmidhi documented it (3152), and after it, through various routes from Safwan bin Salih, with this chain. In some of these routes "Yazid bin Yazid bin Jabir" has been dropped from the chain. Al-Tirmidhi said: This hadith is "gharib".
