Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 3436

أخبرنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن عبد الله الصَّفّار، حدثنا أحمد بن مِهْران، حدثنا أبو نُعيم، حدثنا علي بن صالح، عن مَيسَرة بن حَبيب النَّهْدي، عن المِنهال بن عَمرو، عن سعيد بن جُبير، عن ابن عبَّاس: ﴿وَكَانَ تَحْتَهُ كَنْزٌ لَهُمَا﴾ [الكهف: 82]، قال: ما كان ذَهَبًا ولا فِضّةً، كان صُحُفًا عِلمًا (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه. وقد صحَّت الروايةُ بضِدِّه عن أبي الدرداء:

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning the saying of Allah Almighty: "And beneath it (the wall) was a treasure belonging to the two of them." [Surah al-Kahf: 82] He said: "It was not gold or silver; rather, it was scrolls of knowledge."
The chain of this hadith is sahih (authentic), and the two Shaykhs did not record it. And the narration to the contrary has been authentically reported from Abu al-Darda':

Grading: (1) This report is "sahih" and "mawquf". Its chain is "hasan" because of Ahmad bin Mihran, and he has also been corroborated.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): "Abu Nu'aym" is al-Fadl bin Dukayn.
وأخرجه الخطيب البغدادي في "تقييد العلم" ص 117 من طريق إسحاق بن راهويه، عن وكيع، عن علي بن صالح، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Khatib al-Baghdadi documented it in "Taqyid al-'Ilm" (p. 117) via Ishaq bin Rahawayh, from Waki', from Ali bin Salih, with this chain.
وأخرجه بنحوه أيضًا ص 117 - 118 من طريق الحسن بن صالح، عن ميسرة بن حبيب، به.
