Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 3400

أخبرنا الشيخ أبو بكر بن إسحاق، أخبرنا يعقوب بن يوسف القَزْويني، حدثنا محمد بن سعيد بن سابق، حدثنا عَمرو بن أبي قيس، عن عطاء بن السائب، عن سعيد بن جُبَير، عن ابن عبَّاس: ﴿فَلَنُحْيِيَنَّهُ حَيَاةً طَيِّبَةً﴾ [النحل: 97]، قال: القُنُوع، قال: وكان رسول الله ﷺ يَدعُو يقول: "اللهمَّ قَنِّعْني بما رَزَقْتني، وبارِكْ لي فيه، واخلُفْ عليَّ كلَّ غائبة (2) لي بخيرٍ" (3).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning the saying of Allah Almighty: "We will surely cause him to live a good life." [Surah al-Nahl: 97] He said: "It means contentment." And (he further said that) the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to make this supplication: 'Allahumma qanni'ni bima razaqtani, wa barik li fihi, wakhluf 'alayya kulla gha'ibatin li bikhayr' (O Allah, make me content with the provision You have given me, bless it for me, and replace for me with something better everything of mine that is hidden (lost))."

Note / Clarification: In manuscript (Z) it is "gha'ib" (absent).
(3) إسناده ضعيف كما سبق بيانه برقم (1692) و (1899).
Grading: Its chain is da'if (weak), as has already been explained at numbers (1692) and (1899).
وأخرجه البيهقي في "شعب الإيمان" (9864)، وفي "الآداب" (943) عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi narrated it in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (9864) and in "al-Adab" (943) from Abu Abdullah al-Hakim, with this chain.
