أخبرنا أبو زكريا العَنبَري، حدثنا محمد بن عبد السلام، حدثنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم، أخبرنا المُعتمِر بن سليمان قال: سمعت منصورَ بن المعتمِر يُحدِّث عن عامرٍ قال: جَلَسَ شُتَيرُ بن شَكَل ومسروقُ بن الأجدَع، فقال أحدهما لصاحبه: حَدِّثْ بما سمعتَ من عبد الله وأُصدِّقُك أو أحدِّثُك وتصدِّقني، قال: سمعتُ عبدَ الله يقول: إنَّ أَجمَعَ آيةٍ في القرآن للخير والشرِّ في سورة النحل: ﴿إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْعَدْلِ وَالْإِحْسَانِ وَإِيتَاءِ ذِي الْقُرْبَى وَيَنْهَى عَنِ الْفَحْشَاءِ وَالْمُنْكَرِ وَالْبَغْيِ يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ﴾ [النحل: 90]، قال: صدقتَ (1).

It is narrated from Amir; he said: Shutayr bin Shakal and Masruq bin al-Ajda' were sitting, and one of them said to his companion: "Narrate what you heard from Abdullah (bin Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him) and I will confirm you, or I will narrate and you confirm me." So the (other) said: I heard Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) say that the most comprehensive verse in the Qur'an for good and evil is in Surah al-Nahl: "Indeed, Allah commands justice, excellence and giving to relatives, and forbids indecency, wrongdoing and transgression. He admonishes you so that you may take heed." [Surah al-Nahl: 90] At this (the first) said: You have spoken the truth.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), and they did not record it.

(1) إسناده صحيح. إسحاق بن إبراهيم: هو ابن راهويه، وعامر: هو ابن شَراحيل الشعبي.
