حدثني علي بن عيسى، حدثنا إبراهيم بن أبي طالب، حدثنا ابن أبي عُمر، حدثنا سفيان، عن الأعمش، عن عبد الله بن مُرَّة، عن مسروق قال: قال عبد الله في قول الله ﷿: ﴿زِدْنَاهُمْ عَذَابًا فَوْقَ الْعَذَابِ﴾ [النحل: 88]، قال: عقاربُ أنيابُها كالنَّخل الطِّوَال (2). هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه. It is narrated from Masruq; he said that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said concerning the saying of Allah Almighty: "We will increase them in punishment upon punishment." [Surah al-Nahl: 88] "Scorpions whose stings will be like tall date-palms."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), and they did not record it.

Note / Clarification: Ibn Abi Umar: he is Muhammad bin Yahya bin Abi Umar al-'Adani, and Sufyan: he is Ibn 'Uyaynah. وأخرجه الطبري في "التفسير" 14/ 160، والطبراني في "الكبير" (9105) من طريق سفيان بن عيينة، بهذا الإسناد. وأخرجه أسد بن موسى في "الزهد" (26)، وهناد فيه أيضًا (260)، وابن أبي شيبة في "مصنفه" 13/ 158 - 159، وابن أبي الدنيا في "صفة النار" (93)، والطبري 14/ 160، وأبو يعلى (2659)، والطبراني (9103) و (9104)، والبيهقي في "البعث والنشور" (560) من طرق عن سليمان الأعمش، به. وسيأتي برقم (8970). Reference / Source: Al-Tabari narrated it in "al-Tafsir" (14/ 160), and al-Tabarani in "al-Kabir" (9105), via Sufyan bin 'Uyaynah, with this chain. Also, Asad bin Musa in "al-Zuhd" (26), Hannad also in it (260), Ibn Abi Shaybah in his "Musannaf" (13/ 158-159), Ibn Abi al-Dunya in "Sifat al-Nar" (93), al-Tabari (14/ 160), Abu Ya'la (2659), al-Tabarani (9103, 9104), and al-Bayhaqi in "al-Ba'th wa-l-Nushur" (560) narrated it through various routes from Sulayman al-A'mash, in the same way. And it will come later at number (8970).
