حدثنا أبو العبَّاس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا الحسن بن علي بن عفَّان العامري، حدثنا يحيى بن آدم، حدثنا إسرائيل، عن أبي حَصِين، عن سعيد بن جُبير، عن ابن عبَّاس في قوله تعالى: ﴿لَوْلَا أَنْ رَأَى بُرْهَانَ رَبِّهِ﴾ [يوسف: 24]، قال: مُثِّل له يعقوبُ، فضرب صدرَه فخرجت شهوتُه من أناملِه (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), regarding this saying of Allah Almighty: "Had he not seen the proof of his Lord" [Surah Yusuf: 24], that he said: (At that moment) the likeness of Sayyiduna Ya'qub (peace be upon him) appeared before him; he struck Yusuf (peace be upon him) on the chest, and his desire left him through his fingertips.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), and they did not record it.

(2) إسناده صحيح وهو موقوف. أبو حصين: هو عثمان بن عاصم الأسدي.
Grading: Its chain is sahih, and it is mawquf.
Note / Clarification: Abu Husayn: he is 'Uthman bin 'Asim al-Asadi.
وأخرجه البيهقي في "الزهد" (364) عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi recorded it in "al-Zuhd" (364) from Abu 'Abd Allah al-Hakim with this same chain.
وأخرجه الطبري في "تفسيره" 12/ 187، وكذا ابن أبي حاتم 7/ 2123 من طريقين عن إسرائيل، به.
Reference / Source: Al-Tabari recorded it in his "Tafsir" (12/ 187), and likewise Ibn Abi Hatim (7/ 2123), through two routes from Isra'il in the same way.
