Isma'il bin Ubayd bin Rifa'ah narrates from his father, from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gathered Quraysh and asked: "Is there anyone among you (in this gathering) who is not from you?" They said: "Among us are our sister's son, our ally and our freed slave (mawla)." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Our ally is from us, our sister's son is from us, and our mawla is from us. (But remember!) My true friends and close ones among you are only the God-fearing."
The chain of this hadith is sahih (authentic), and the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its isnad is da'if (weak) because Isma'il bin Ubayd bin Rifa'ah is majhul (unknown). Note / Clarification: Abu Hudhayfah is Musa bin Mas'ud al-Nahdi, and Sufyan is al-Thawri. Reference / Source: Ahmad (31/ 18993) recorded it from Waki', from Sufyan, with this same isnad. Reference / Source: It will come later from the author at number (7128) in a longer form than here. (6762). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: And his words: "Our sister's son is one of us, and our freed slave is one of us" are authentically established from the hadith of Anas bin Malik with the wording: "The sister's son of a people is one of them" and "The freed slave of a people is one of them". Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari recorded both of them (6761) and (6762).
