أخبرنا إسماعيل بن محمد بن الفضل الشَّعْراني، حدثنا جدِّي، حدثنا عمرو بن عَوْن، حدثنا هُشيم، أخبرنا أبو بِشْر، عن سعيد بن جُبَير، عن ابن عبَّاس في قوله ﷿: ﴿وَيَعْلَمُ مُسْتَقَرَّهَا وَمُسْتَوْدَعَهَا﴾ [هود: 6]، قال: المستقَرُّ: ما كان في الرَّحِم، مما هو حيٌّ ومما قد مات، والمستَودَع: ما في الصُّلْب (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning this saying of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: "And He knows its place of settlement and its place of deposit" [Surah Hud: 6] that he said: "Mustaqarr (the place of settlement) refers to the mother's womb, in which there is one who is alive or has died, and mustawda' (the place of deposit) refers to the man's loins (sulb)."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(1) إسناده صحيح. أبو بشر: هو جعفر بن أبي وحشيَّة.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Bishr is Ja'far bin Abi Wahshiyyah.
وأخرجه سعيد بن منصور في التفسير من "سننه" (892) عن هشيم، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Sa'id bin Mansur recorded it in the Tafsir section of his "Sunan" (892) from Hushaym with this chain.
وسيأتي نحوه في آخر الحديث رقم (3920) من طريق تميم الضبّي عن سعيد بن جبير.
Details of the narration: Something similar will come at the end of hadith no. (3920) by way of Tamim al-Dabbi, from Sa'id bin Jubayr.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
