Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 3271

أخبرنا أبو بكر الشافعي، حدثنا إسحاق بن الحسن، حدثنا أبو حذيفة، حدثنا سفيان، عن زياد بن عِلَاقة، عن زياد بن حَرمَلة قال: سمعت عليَّ بن أبي طالب يقرأ هذه الآية: ﴿الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَلَمْ يَلْبِسُوا إِيمَانَهُمْ بِظُلْمٍ أُولَ﴾ [الأنعام: 82]، قال: هذه في إبراهيمَ وأصحابه ليس في هذه الأُمة (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه. إنما اتَّفقا (2) على حديث الأعمش عن إبراهيم عن عَلقَمة عن عبد الله (3): أنهم قالوا: يا رسول الله، وأيُّنا لم يَظلِمْ نفسَه، الحديثَ بطوله بغير هذا التأويل.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) that he recited this verse: "Those who believe and do not mix their faith with wrongdoing" [Surah al-An'am: 82] and said: "This (verse) is about Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and his companions; it is not for this Ummah."
This hadith has an authentic (sahih) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it. However, the two Shaykhs agreed upon the narration of al-A'mash which he transmitted from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Companions said: "O Messenger of Allah! Which of us has not wronged himself?" (That is, they understood ordinary sins to be the wrongdoing meant.) That is a long hadith, but this interpretation (that it is only for Ibrahim (peace be upon him)) is not mentioned in it.

(1) إسناده ضعيف لجهالة زياد بن حرملة فلم نقف له على ذكرٍ في شيء من كتب التراجم. أبو حذيفة: هو موسى بن مسعود النهدي، وسفيان: هو الثوري.
Grading: Its chain is da'if (weak) because Ziyad bin Harmalah is majhul (unknown); we found no mention of him in any of the biographical works.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Hudhayfah is Musa bin Mas'ud al-Nahdi, and Sufyan is al-Thawri.
وأخرجه الطبري 7/ 259، وابن أبي حاتم 4/ 1333 من طريق قيس بن الربيع، عن زياد بن علاقة، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Tabari recorded it (7/ 259) and Ibn Abi Hatim (4/ 1333) by way of Qays bin al-Rabi', from Ziyad bin Ilaqah, with this chain.

(3) قوله: "عن عبد الله" سقط من (ز) و (ص) و (ع)، هو ثابت في (ب).
