حدثنا عبد الله بن جعفر بن دَرَسْتَوَيهِ النَّسَوَي من أصل كتابه لفظًا، حدثنا يعقوب بن سفيان الفَسَوي، حدثنا يحيى بن يعلى بن الحارث، حدثنا أَبي يعلى بنُ الحارث، عن غَيْلان بن جامع المُحارِبي، عن إسماعيل بن أبي خالد، عن عامر الشَّعْبي، عن أبي موسى الأشعري: أنه شَهِدَ عنده رجلان نصرانيَّان على وصيَّةِ رجل مسلم مات عندهم، قال: فارتاب أهلُ الوصيَّة، فأَتَوْا بهما أبا موسى الأشعريَّ، فاستحلَفَهما بعد صلاة العصر بالله ما اشتَرَيا به ثمنًا ولا كَتَما شهادةَ الله إنا إذًا لمن الآثمِين. قال عامر: ثم قال أبو موسى: والله إنَّ هذه لَقِصَّةٌ .......... (2). صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that two Christians testified before him regarding the will of a Muslim man who had died with them (on a journey). The narrator said: The beneficiaries of the will became suspicious, so they brought the two of them to Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him). He made the two of them swear by Allah after the Asr prayer: "By Allah! We have not taken any price in exchange for this testimony, nor have we concealed the testimony of Allah; (if we did so) we would then be among the sinners." Amir said: Then Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "By Allah! This is exactly the incident (mentioned in the Qur'an)."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(2) هنا بياض في النسخ الخطية، ونقدِّر أن يكون مكانه من الكلام: لم تكن بعد الذي كان في عهد رسول الله ﷺ، كما في رواية أبي داود، والله تعالى أعلم.
Note / Clarification: Here there is a blank space in the manuscripts, and we estimate that the wording in its place would be: "لم تكن بعد الذي كان في عهد رسول الله ﷺ" (this had not happened since what took place in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)), as in the narration of Abu Dawud. And Allah Most High knows best.
والخبر إسناده صحيح إن شاء الله. وأخرجه أبو داود (3605) من طريق زكريا بن أبي زائدة، عن الشعبي: أنَّ رجلًا من المسلمين حضرته الوفاة … وذكر القصة.
Grading: The chain of this report is sahih, if Allah wills.
Reference / Source: Abu Dawud recorded it (3605) by way of Zakariyya bin Abi Za'idah, from al-Sha'bi: that a man among the Muslims was approaching death... and he mentioned the story.
وهذا القضاء من أبي موسى الأشعري على مقتضى الآية السادسة بعد المئة من سورة المائدة.
Note / Clarification: This ruling of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) is in accordance with what verse 106 of Surat al-Ma'idah requires.
