It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Abu Nadrah recited before him the verse, "So for whatever you have enjoyed of them, give them their due compensation" [Surah Al-Nisa': 24]. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "(In fact it is like this:) So for the women whom you have enjoyed for a specified term, give them their dowries." Abu Nadrah said: I said: We do not recite it that way! Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "By Allah, Allah Almighty revealed it that way."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, and the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is sahih. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ishaq bin Ibrahim is Ibn Rahawayh, Abu Maslamah is Sa'id bin Yazid bin Maslamah al-Azdi, and Abu Nadrah is al-Mundhir bin Malik bin Qit'ah al-Abdi. Reference / Source: Al-Tabari in "Tafsir" (5/ 12 - 13) and Ibn Abi Dawud in "al-Masahif" (218) recorded it by two routes from Shu'bah, with this chain. Reference / Source: Al-Tabari also recorded it (5/ 12) by way of Dawud bin Abi Hind, from Abu Nadrah, with the same chain. Note / Clarification: Then al-Tabari said, commenting on this reading: It is contrary to what the copies of the Qur'an (masahif) of the Muslims contain, and it is not permissible for anyone to add to the Book of Allah the Exalted anything not brought by a report that is conclusive, removing all excuse, from those whom it is not permissible to contradict.
